LANDSCAPE & NATURE Series 1980 – 2016
Landscapes and Nature Series (1980-2016)
A self-described pantheist, Warfield felt that a universal spirit manifested itself through nature, and all the plants and animals in it.
She was fascinated by the beauty and variety that the natural world presented and it was a subject she returned to again and again over the years, in every media. Sometimes employing the innovative division of the two-dimensional picture plane, as in her 'Shelter Harbor, Rhode Island Series' of paintings, or drawing or printing on unusual substances like music sheets or sandpaper.
She made many landscape drawings and paintings outdoors on location and later used these to create finished works in her studio.
