In 2009, the artist borrowed the combat boots illustrated in this anti-war painting from Mike Modugno, an Afghanistan and Iraqi Veteran (2002-2003). Mike was a bartender at a local restaurant where she often visited for lunch.

In the Summer of 1987, the entire nation was transfixed by the live television coverage of the U. S. Congressional Hearing investigating the Reagan Administration's involvement in the scheme to sell arms to Iran in exchange for hostage release and money, which was funneled outside of normal channels to Nicaraguan Contra Rebel groups. The committee was chaired by Representative Lee Hamilton of Indiana, and Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii. The key witness was Lt. Col. Oliver North. His testimony was confrontational and controversial, and it polarized the American public. The artist depicted the key figures gathered in front of the U.S. Capital Dome, in this painting.
